In this episode of Chorley FC Stories, Kevin and Julie Hinds share their long-standing connection with Chorley FC and reflect on how the club has played an important role in their family life for many years.
Julie’s connection to the club goes back to childhood, attending matches with her father, Frank Powell. Over time, following Chorley became part of everyday life, with matchdays bringing together family members across generations. Those early memories include standing on the grass banks at Victory Park, watching games with smaller crowds and experiencing the simple, close-knit atmosphere that defined non-league football during that time.
Kevin began attending matches more than two decades ago and quickly became immersed in the community around the club. For both of them, Chorley FC has always been about more than just the football. It is about the friendships built over the years, the familiar faces seen week after week and the shared experiences that come with supporting a local team.
The conversation also reflects on how much the club has grown and changed. They remember the days when crowds were much smaller and compare them to the vibrant matchday atmosphere seen today. Despite the changes, they believe the community spirit at Chorley FC remains just as strong.
Kevin and Julie also talk about becoming more involved with the club through sponsorship and supporting club initiatives, something that came naturally through their passion for Chorley. Their memories highlight how supporters often play an important role in helping clubs grow and thrive.
Through stories of memorable matches, characters around the club and the friendships built along the way, their interview captures the essence of following a non-league football club and the special place Chorley FC holds in the lives of its supporters.

Football clubs don't just exist on a pitch. They live in the memories of the people around them, the families who have followed the same club for generations, the volunteers who give their Saturdays without a second thought, the players who came through the ranks and never forgot where they started.
Victory Park is more than a ground. It's where people belong. Chorley Stories exists to preserve that, to make sure the voices of our community are recorded, respected, and shared for years to come.
Capturing the voices of Victory Park, from the terraces to the touchline. Real stories, real people, real community.
